2nd LA AppShow a Sell Out Success!

We had another great LA AppShow last night. Thanks again to our hosts Edmunds, sponsor Jumptap, and guest host for the evening, Fritz Nelson from Information Week.

Sam Friedman discusses Parking in Motion with Fritz Nelson

My key takeaways from the evening were that BET spent a week promoting their new 106 & Park app on air and are using it to have viewers interact with the live show and that Angry Birds Rio did 20 Million downloads across Android and iPhone in a little over 20 days. The car photos in the InsideLine app were stunning quality on the iPhone 4 retina display.

Rio, the movie just had the biggest opening weekend of any movie so far this year–$40 Million. They’ve done $170 Million in ticket sales so far worldwide. Learn how Fox leveraged an iPhone app, Angry Birds Rio, to drive so many people to the box office tomorrow at the LA AppShow hosted by Edmunds at 1620 26th St., Suite 400 South in Santa Monica, CA. Angry Birds Rio at the April 19 LA AppShow

Matt McMahon and Jessica Trinca, from Fox Digital Entertainment’s Mobile team, will be discussing the successful partnership between 20^th Century Fox and Rovio on “Angry Birds Rio”, a stand-alone game intended to grow the Angry Birds franchise and to promote the new Fox feature film, RIO, opening April 15 in theatres everywhere. In the game, the original Angry Birds travel to Rio to save their captured avian friends, Blu & Jewel, the stars of RIO. The game launched worldwide on March 22 and hit #1 across Apple’s iOS devices in 55 markets within the first 36 hours of launch as well as being the featured app for the launch of Amazon.com’s new Android Appstore.

LA AppShow, Santa Monica, April 19th

After a total of 8 successful AppShows in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Santa Monica, the SF AppShow is excited to be back in Santa Monica on April 19th, bringing our unique brand of entertaining app demos and app industry discussion.

The LA AppShow brings together app developers to demo their newsworthy new apps and unrecognized app gems to a live audience with an exciting social backdrop. The events are also streamed live on the web via Ustream.tv (and archives are available to view online). Past presenters have been featured in the New York Times, BBC, network television and the iTunes App Store home page after appearing in the LA AppShow!

Cocktails and appetizers. 6 PM – 7:00 PM.
